Thickened Endometrium
Measurement:
Endometrium is called thickened when the thickness is
- >14 mm in reproductive age
- >8 mm in postmenopausal women with history of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
- >4 or >5mm in postmenopausal women without history of HRT
Causes:
Echogenic thickening:
- Pregnancy: Intrauterine, extrauterine, abortion, trophoblastic diseases.
- Endometrial hyperplasia, adhesion, polyp, carcinoma. 'Sonohysterography' helps further.
Hypoechogenic thickening:
- Endometritis.
