Echogenic Endometrium Mimicking Intrauterine Contraceptive Device
Prominent hyperechogenic endometrium may sometimes makes confusion with IUCD.
A careful history may help confirm further.
Check for any feature of calcification (eg. shadow).
If the patient has any complaints regarding infertility, then better to go with sonohysterography to exclude adhesion.
If you don't want to go with sonohysterography, then try evaluating with ultrasound on the first days of menstruation. You may get some clue due to the presence of fluid in the cavity.
Case:
45 years old female patient came with nonspecific abdominal pain. The prominent echogenic endometrial lining was found mimicking IUCD. She had no history of using contraceptive devices.
