Blighted Ovum - Anembryonic Pregnancy

Female patient came with history of amenorrhoea for 3 months with positive pregnancy test. Patient had no definite symptoms except slight lower abdominal pain. Patient has previous history of a spontaneous abortion one year back.

Ultrasound of the pelvic organs show an irregular gestational sac surrounded by decidual reaction in a gravid uterus without any definite fetal pole or yolk sac. Mean Sac Diameter (MSD) is about 25 mm and does not correspond to last menstrual period. Both tubo-ovarian regions appear to be normal.

So the features correspond to a case of blighted ovum.
